Marianna Stuhr

A visual artist, born in 1982, Poland, graduated from Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow and Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw (PhD). Currently lives and works in Frankfurt, Germany.
Awarded with numerous scholarships and awards in art competitions, among others scholarship of Ministry of Polish Culture and National Heritage, Kosciuszko Foundation, Polish National Center of Culture.
Artist treats her art as looking for a balance between tradition, and modernity
by combining contemporary expression with techniques time gone by (classic
hand-printing techniques, canvas painting), telling a personal, often intimate story.

Her most recent works are a vivid interpretation of memory processes. The immediate inspiration—or rather, the catalyst—that directed the artist's attention to this theme stems from personal experiences and a challenging family situation. In her paintings, she juxtaposes these with the neurobiological processes that occur within the recesses of the human mind. physical phenomena occurring on the micro and macro scale.
Her earlier works refer to the world of astrophysics (Parallel Universes, 2023), Marianna gives new forms and context to processes happening in our distant universe, while often intertwining personal, intimate experiences. By exploring these challenging topics thorough the artistic lenses, Marianna is, in fact, exploring the topic of our own existence. For Marianna, painting as an activity becomes an act of meditation, and painting itself becomes a form of narration and interpretation of this individual feeling. The daily creative activity makes the understanding, or in fact the feeling, of the matter of the universe closer, more connected and easier to comprehend.
